polycon - Project: Five Miles Street - Vauxhall Student Residential, in London / UK
The design consists of a slim 32-storey tower in a sought-after London neighourhood and offers 454 student rooms with a mix of cluster flats and self-contained studios. A key feature of the design is the pointed, rounded-shape, south-west external corner of the building. The floor-to-ceiling curved glass windows look out over the new US embassy in Nine Elms and the Battersea power station. Approx. 3,000 m² of polycon 3D elements with a wall thickness of 16 mm were supplied for the bright areas of the facade. A special feature are the arched elements, some of which are shaped over several corners. The elements were assembled using KEIL undercut anchors and an aluminum substructure.
