polycon - Project: Nova Karolina, in Ostrau / CZ

The shopping center "Forum Nova Karolina" in Ostrau / CZ inaugurated in 2012. Travertine Stone was originally intended to be used for the rear-ventilated curtain wall. However, this limited the dimensions for executing the design. The solution was found in polycon fiberglass-reinforced concrete, as the appearance and structure of a travertine can be reproduced using matrices and dimensions can be realised according to the architect's wishes. A total of 17,500 m² polycon with a thickness of 16 mm were installed. | Architect Heinrich Böll
